The Georgia Healthy Start Collaborative is a statewide network of
federally funded Healthy Start programs working together to improve
maternal and child health outcomes and reduce infant and maternal
mortality across Georgia.
Supported by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA), Healthy Start programs focus on communities where families
face higher health risks due to limited access to care, economic challenges, or rural isolation. The goal is to ensure that every mother
and baby has a healthy start in life.
Provides guidance and education before and after childbirth to help parents understand what to expect during pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. These services support healthy habits, informed decision-making, and improved outcomes for both mother and baby.
Offers personalized support to help families navigate healthcare systems and access the services they need. Care coordinators work closely with parents to connect them to medical providers, social services, and ongoing support.
Delivers one-on-one support through home visits, offering guidance during pregnancy and early parenting. Trained professionals provide education, check-ins, and resources in a comfortable, familiar environment.
Provides education and hands-on support to help mothers successfully initiate and maintain breastfeeding. Lactation specialists offer guidance, encouragement, and solutions to common challenges.
Supports the emotional well-being of parents through screenings, counseling, and referrals. These services help address stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health needs during and after pregnancy.
Equips parents with the knowledge and skills needed to care for their newborns with confidence. Topics include safe sleep, feeding, bonding, and early childhood development.
Helps families access essential services that support stability and well-being. Programs connect parents to resources such as nutrition assistance, healthcare coverage, and safe housing.
